Zanzibar Island in Tanzania

Zanzibar is an island located about 40 miles from Dar Es Sallam. The ferry ride takes about 2-3 hours and it’s well worth it whether you are staying there for the whole time, or just for a one day trip. Zanzibar is most famous for it’s beaches. The surface of the beach depends very much on which side of the island are you on. White sand beaches with turquoise water looks just like from a postcard. Traditional wooden boats adds to the atmosphere quite nicely. Stone town located in the west-most part of the island is an great example of the old time Arabic architecture with narrow streets and busy port.

Mafia Island in Tanzania

Don’t get fooled by it’s unpleasant name. It’s name comes from Arabic word “morfiyeh” which means group of islands. It’s a usual destination for lovers of scuba diving and deep sea fishing is very popular here as well. Mafia Island Marine Park is an amazing example of the nature preservation activities so common in Tanzania. Come here for a visit and make sure to bring you snorkel with you.
